Taryn is a vivacious young woman who lives her life to the full in Johannesburg. Blessed with a determined and bubbly personality, no challenge from her cerebral palsy (or anything else for that matter) has kept her down very long. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Diagnosed with diplegic spastic ataxic cerebral palsy (C.P.) as a toddler, Taryn has faced all of the challenges of living with C.P. with the loving support of her parents, brother and twin sister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She took her first very shaky steps just before she\nturned six years old, these were the steps that would start her on a journey\ntowards independence despite her disability. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As an adult she lives an independent life, drives a car and she has a very busy social calendar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Taryn had numerous surgeries between the ages of 5 and 12\nto improve her mobility and reduce the spasticity in her body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recognising that knowledge is power she works hard to educate\npeople about C.P. and how it affects those who have it and the people closest\nto them in order to challenge the stigma attached to the condition one person\nat a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
